loltyler1 vs Drdisrespectlive - Debate

There has been a debate on the Net about which of these 2 big name streamers had a better comeback and here I will try to provide data to show which had a bigger comeback.

If you do not know who these 2 streamers are you probably have been living under a very tiny rock. Both tyler and doc became huge on Twitch in 2016 and 2017 and since than they are all what most people talk about. Tyler was quite inconsistent and quit streaming from time to time and came back. Doc on the other hand was very consistent until his big family problem. Both of them were absent until their big comeback and this is why were are here...

loltyler1 had his return on January 8th, 2018 and drdisrespectlive had his on February 5th, 2018.

Peak Users

This is the biggest debate on the net right know. Who has reached the highest concurrent (peak) users on their comeback stream ?

Let's start explaning how peak users work on Twitch and many other live streaming platform. The live viewers count does not update in real time, it is updated in batches. Usually it is updated every 15-30 sec intervals. This is usually fine for most channels even with 20-30k users.

However, when it starts to get extremely high numbers like 300-400k it starts to be problematic. Some users might see a higher number where as other might not see it. Peak number will change quite fast as well. Every 15-30 sec intervals means you might not even notice the peak users until it is gone.

There is also the recording part of this peak users. As you all know, Twitch provides us with an API where We can poll and get information about Twitch channels, games and streamers. This is the place where we collect our data from. Twitch API does not updated as frequently as live viewers number updates so Twitch API might not catch the real peak viewers. This causes us and anyone and everyone who relies on Twitch API to record/see lower numbers.

However, this is totally fine. Why ? A peak viewer number that lasts for 10 sec is not a good indication. Any number that stays for a longer time like 30-60 seconds would be more accurate way of measuring highest concurrent viewers number.

Here is the highest concurrent number recorded for both of these streamers;

Streamer Peak Viewers
loltyler1 381,510
drdisrespectlive 365,132

Now, there are screenshots or articles of higher numbers for both of these streamers on the net. Tyler might have peaked at 400k but for an extremely short time and doc also might have peaked at 385k but again only for a short time. The different between the 2 will be about the same and won't change the results.

loltyler1

Subscribers

Both loltyler1's and drdisrespectlive's return was highly anticipated and hyped a lot. Both of these streamers also had most of their subs lost due to their absence from streaming.

loltyler1 had dropped to about 1k subs before his return and he was averaging about 6k subs when he streamed regularly before his return. drdisrespectlive had dropped to about 2.5k subs before his return and he was averaging about 24-25k subs before he quit.

As we can see doc lost much more subs than tyler did. On their comeback day, both tyler and doc gained huge amount of subscribers.

loltyler1 gained about 9-10k subs on his comeback day on January 8th, 2018. drdisrespectlive gained about 16-17k subs on his comeback day on February 5th, 2018.

WINNER
drdisrespectlive

This result is as expected since doc had a much bigger subscriber base and those coming back to support doc is as expected. Obviously, both of them will reach to higher sub count than before because of the hype train. How long would that last ? We have to wait and see...

Average Viewer count

We looked at the peak numbers, now let's see which streamer did have higher average viewer numbers on his comeback stream.

loltyler1 streamed about 10 hours on his comeback day with 168,682 average viewers for his entire stream. He only played League of Legends. drdisrespectlive streamed about 7 and half hours on his comeback day with 158,800 average viewers for his entire stream. However, doc has streamed total of 3 different games. Playerunknown's battleground with 174,687 average viewers, Fortnite with 124,802 average viewers and H1Z1 with 86,149 average viewers.

WINNER
loltyler1

Not only tyler streamed longer, he managed to get higher average viewers on his comeback stream. If doc only streamed PUBG, He would have had higher Average Viewers.

Follower gain

tyler and doc has been geting a lot of followers extremely fast in a short time they have been streaming. doc has around 1.7mil followers and tyler has around 1.4mil followers as of writing this article.

tyler gained about 115k followers in his comeback stream in 10 hours. doc gained about 102k followers in his comeback stream in 7 and a half hours.

Total views

Total views can be seen on a streamer's channel with and eye symbol next to it. It represents unique viewers.

tyler had 2,212,137 total views in his 10 hour stream. doc had a 2,214,218 total views in his 7.5 hour stream.

This shows doc as having more unique people watching his stream than tyler.

*looks like API was having problems updating doc's total views numbers from time to time.

GRAND WINNER
BOTH

These streamers are providing great entertainment and bring huge hype to Twitch. I am pretty sure Twitch is delighted to have both of these Streamers on its platform.

Hope you enjoyed it...
