As the table above shows, the viewer count for prime times are above 300k and even on dead hours it stays above 150k, not a bad launch at all. However, as a highly anticipated FPS, there were higher expectations.

Between these hours, COD: Modern Warfare had an average of 10-13k Streamers streaming the game in prime hours, which meant a lot of streamers were playing the game on launch.

The most watched and most successful streamer for the launch day of Modern Warfare was obviously, DrDisrespect.

DrDisrespect had highest concurrent peak of 96,133 viewers watching him play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on launch day. This was interestingly, highest concurrent viewership and a record Doc has reached in 2019.

Let’s not forget that DrDisrespect had a 24 hour stream and his biggest competitor, Shroud, had left Twitch for Mixer in an exclusive deal. This seems to work in favor of Drdisrespect as his viewership had increased quite a bit, at least for COD: Modern Warfare. Shroud going to mixer will definitely make Doc grow but that is a write-up for another time.

On the launch day, DrDisrespect had an average viewership of 50,764. This is quite a bit higher than normal average viewership Doc reaches. In the first hours of the launch day of COD: Modern Warfare Drdisrespect had 84k to 88k average viewers watch him.

In conclusion, COD: Modern Warfare launch was a success. It was less than the expectations but it was a strong entrance to the Twitch streaming scene.

A lot of the FPS was excited to see it launch and it is actually more important to stay relevant and have high viewership count steadily for the coming weeks and months is much more important metric to judge the success of COD: Modern Warfare. We will be watching closely…
